Members and Friends of First Presbyterian Church,

The session met Sunday night and approved a schedule for holding worship services again in the near future. Please keep in mind the proposed schedule is contingent on how things go as states begin to reopen. If there is a spike of COVID-19, especially in our area, the session could easily modify the proposed schedule.

For now, we hope to hold our first public worship service on May 31st, which is Pentecost Sunday. There are a few caveats:

First, in keeping with social distancing guidelines, the the sanctuary will have 62 "spots" for people/couples/families to sit approximately 6 feet apart. There will also be overflow seating available in the narthex (and possibly even the Williams Family Center) where the service will be streamed to TVs for viewing. There will be ushers on hand each Sunday to help guide/direct people to the proper spots. I know the Worship Committee would welcome any one who wishes to help with that process. So contact either Sally Hoehl or Kathy Nichols to let them know of your interest in being an usher.

Second, everyone in attendance must wear a mask. You can either bring your own, or we will have some available. Again, I know Kathy and Sally would appreciate anyone who might wish to make masks for us to have on hand, so contact them to let them know that as well.

Third, members and friends of the church in high-risk categories are strongly encouraged to stay at home for the first several weeks of public worship services. We will continue to stream the services online and the session is considering adopting the practice of live-streaming permanently. But at a minimum, we will continue the practice for the foreseeable future.

Those are the three big things that I think are important for folks to know right now. There are numerous other steps behind the scenes that are also being taken to ensure people's safety, I just don't want to overwhelm folks with too much information right now.

So again, for now:

1) We hope to hold public worship services starting May 31st with social distancing guideline in place.

2) People will need to wear masks

3) The services will continue to be streamed online for members and friends who will still need to remain at home for health reasons.

More information will be forth coming in the weeks ahead, and remember the session will continue to monitor the situation to see if the above plan needs to be changed.

Peace to all and I look forward to (hopefully) being able to worship with some of you in person on May 31st.

Welcome

The First Presbyterian Church is a busy place. Yet amid all the activities going on, our focus remains on serving God through worship, education, outreach, and fellowship. We also enjoy having fun and believe that God delights in our laughter no less than in our prayers. We value innovation as well as tradition, and with a healthy mix of both ingredients seek to grow in love, faith, and understanding.

Prayer Of The Week

Philippians 10: 4-6

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.
